Frequently asked questions.

About counselling.

Counselling can help in dealing with a wide range of issues, including our emotions, worry, anger, stress, low mood. It offers a place to work through life events such as bereavement and illness, and also explore relationships.

Counselling enables us to understand ourselves better and can be helpful exploring issues like when we feel overwhelmed or stuck, when we have emotions that seem hard to manage or patterns we have noticed about our behaviour, especially where others are affected.

Studies show that online counselling is as effective as in-person counselling. There are additional benefits of more sessions available, and connecting from the comfort and safety of your own home.

Because inner healing requires you to face the painful emotions, thoughts, patterns that have been avoided or minimised sometimes for many years, it can feel difficult as this pain surfaces when the defences start to soften.

The process.

The initial session gives space for you to be able to explain what has been going on to have brought you to counselling .. It helps build our relationship and provides a starting point for our work together.

You are able to have as few or many sessions as you feel are required, and this can be reviewed. Some people work things out within a few sessions, whilst others choose to work long term.

Client's decide how often they wish to have a session, this can be weekly, fortnightly or monthly.

Yes, you can take breaks and then return to counselling when it suits you.

As a mature and experienced counsellor I am able to support clients who struggle to put into words how they are feeling ... and reassure you that there is no pressure or agenda as each session is unique for that person.
